You can’t always rely on a recruitment agency for a reliable project manager.

Waaaaait a minute… (audible gasp)… Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

Let me tell you a story… Once there was an owner of a subcontracting company who needed a reliable project manager to take the responsibility for the day-to-day running of an engineering project. Scope and objectives needed clarifying, the reporting needed stepping up a gear and frequent delays and interruptions needed to be eradicated. It was time to reach out for someone to take the burden off his shoulders.

As any responsible business owner would, the owner of the subcontracting company went first to his HR department. The HR department, in their turn, headed off to a recruitment company to find him a project manager for his engineering project. It is worth noting here that some business owners (who are equally as responsible) use outsourced HR companies!

As our hero wended his way home to his good lady after a long and exhausting day, the signboard of his favourite establishment caught his eye and he turned in for a well-earned drink. Once ensconced at the bar, he struck up a conversation with a wise-looking man with whom he shared his project management dilemma. The wise-looking man listened attentively and then, in a low voice, made a polite suggestion: “If a reliable project manager is required for an engineering project, would it not be better to go to an engineering project management consultancy than a recruitment agency?

It was a lightbulb moment and the owner of the subcontracting company nearly dropped his pint. What an idea! The wise-looking man handed him a card with the word “Coron” printed across it and a number emblazoned below. Our hero thanked the wise-looking man profusely and the rest, as they say, is history!

Now, if you are looking for a project manager for an engineering project, rather than going straight to a recruitment company, why not come to Coron Projects first? That’s all very well, I hear you say, but are there any reasons (apart from the obvious) for making this rather biased suggestion?

Well, when you go to a recruitment agency in search of a reliable project manager, you are paying a premium for an unknown quantity what’s more, for the recruiter to get it right, you need to have the time to commit to the partnership, which makes the use of a recruitment agency quite an expensive  endeavour.

In general, recruitment agencies’ fees are around 20 to 30% of the employee’s annual salary. The cost of using a recruitment agency can get even higher if you’re looking to make a hire for a hard-to-fill role such as an offshore project, for example. Quite an investment when you don’t know quite what you will be getting.

On the other hand, if you use a specialist engineering project management consultancy such as Coron Projects, you know you will be getting the service you expect. All of our project managers and consultants work to the same set of values and the same standard. We won’t send you just anyone and we definitely won’t leave you stranded. Recruitment agencies just can’t give you the same level of specialist support. As one of our clients said recently,

“I trust you implicitly as I know you wouldn’t put anyone bad into our company.”

In our engineering project management consultancy, our team works to the same set of values to DRIVE projects towards successful outcomes as we believe in being decisive, resilient, innovative, visionary and excellent.

Our project managers are consummate professionals who work with integrity, problem-solving initiative and the ability to give clear direction to highly skilled teams to achieve successful outcomes.

When you come to Coron you are simply dealing with a company that can vouch for the project managers that are sent out as we specialise in the type of service that they provide.

Maybe it’s time to stop wasting money on recruitment methods and channels that don’t work for you and invest it in project managers who will yield the highest return on your investment. It’s one way to save money in the long run, after all!
